Wayne Bridge has admitted he is struggling to run his home and act as a solo parent while his wife Frankie is the I’m A Celebrity castle.
The football ace, 41, who shares sons Parker, eight, and Carter, six, appeared on Loose Women on Thursday to discuss The Saturdays star, 32, and her appearance on the show – however admitted he is finding things harder than he thought.
But it seems as though Wayne has a little surprise, or should we say, a little ‘shocker’, up his sleeve for Frankie when she returns from Gwrych Castle, in the form of their dog Turbo taking her spot in the bed.
Speaking to Loose Women, Charlene White, Gloria Hunniford, Jane Moore and Nadia Sawahla, today (2 December), the former two-time FIFA World Cup squad member spoke about missing his wife, admitting: “I think she’s doing great.
“Frank obviously does a lot for mental health, and she gets – not tired, because she obviously wants to help out with mental health – but you talk all the time about people associating Frankie with being a bit miserable, which she definitely isn’t.
“She’s funny, she’s witty. She takes the micky out of herself, and I think she’s gone in there and she’s shown that already, with only a few episodes in.”
He told the panel: ‘I’m not gonna lie, I’m doing alright but I’m not perfect. Frankie made a calendar for me to help out but I have had to let the kids down a few times. Solo parenting is harder than premier football. It’s mentally tough’.
Frankie entered the castle last month alongside a host of stars including Naughty Boy and Danny Miller and has become a fan favourite instantly.
Wayne, who also has son Jaydon Jean Claude Bridge, 15, with French model Vanessa Perroncel, explained that he is finding things hard and needed to recruit the assistance of his nearest and dearest.
He said: ‘I’m not gonna lie, I’m doing alright but I’m not perfect. Frankie made a calendar for me to help out but I have had to let the kids down a few times…
‘Solo parenting is harder than premier football. It’s mentally tough, I had people round to make dinner and the ladies agreed and the lads were like shut it mate.’
Charlene White asked if he was missing Frankie yet and he said: Yeah, we are, loads, me and the boys. They’ve been very emotional, but they’ve got used to it a little bit now, they love seeing her on the telly….
‘The boys are so attached to Frankie sometimes when it comes to cuddles and all of that. I’ve actually managed to get some now…
‘But I’m sure that will end as soon as she gets back, especially Carter, he’s been by my side non stop, I’m getting cuddles now.’
Gloria Hunniford asked Wayne how he thought Frankie was doing in the castle and Wayne revealed: ‘I think she’s doing great. We talked a lot before she went in. Frank does a lot for mental health and she obviously gets…
‘Not tired because she wants to help out with mental health, but you talk about it all the time that people associate Frankie with being a bit miserable, which she definitely isn’t…
‘She’s funny, witty, she takes the mickey out of herself and she’s gone in there and shown that already. When she first mentioned she’d been asked, I said, ‘Can we wait until Australia so I can go to Australia?’…
‘She was not happy with my response. She was like, ‘Is that all you think about?’ My only advice would be yourself, don’t overthink it. People that don’t know you will see you for what you are – funny, take the mickey out of yourself and down to earth.’
On Wednesday night’s show, Frankie revealed she had a cast made out of her bum as a present for her husband – which was referenced on the show.
He said: ‘It’s hung up upstairs…We don’t put it on show downstairs or anything.’
Explaining the unusual gift further, Wayne said: ‘When she asks me what she wants… I feel like I don’t want anything most of the time. I’d rather be giving gifts and It just came out, ‘I said I’ll have a cast of your a**e’.
