Love Island star Millie Court has opened up about an incident that saw her and boyfriend Liam Reardon “yelling” at each other while on their idyllic looking Maldives holiday.
Essex native Millie, 24, took to her Instagram stories to share details of a snorkelling trip which didn’t quite go to plan.
After sharing behind the scenes snaps of their trip, Millie shared a fresh faced selfie with her 1.9 million followers, writing: “Ok so those flippers are harder to use than they look.”
She wrote on Instagram in response: ‘I don’t normally post things like this but just feel the need to right now.
‘I’m sorry I didn’t realise I wasn’t allowed to write why I’ve been quiet on social media and that were upset as to what had happened on our holiday? I’m sure if the same thing had happened to you, you would be gutted too?
The star continued: “I don’t know whether I was just being dramatic but I was panicking in the middle of the ocean because I couldn’t keep myself afloat with those massive clonkers on.”
‘Please don’t message me abusive messages, and if you are not happy with my page or my content, then don’t follow me. Simple as that.’
She then explained that being a social influencer requires them to share the highs and lows of their life – and defended her choice to update fans about Liam testing positive for Covid.
Millie continued: ‘I’m trying to not let negative people affect me because I am a positive person and we’re trying to make the best out of a sh***y situation.
‘If you hadn’t already realised but with our job being on Instagram we have to be very transparent and I was simply telling you all the experience we’ve had the past 2 days.
‘I’m sure we’re spending NYE isolating like a lot of other people in the world, which is sad that we’re all having to experience that and aren’t spending it with someone of other loved ones.
‘Granted there are people who are in a lot worse situation than us right now, we know that but that doesn’t mean we’re not allowed to be upset and also explain why we won’t be uploading content – seeing as this is our job.’
Millie then detailed an argument between herself and boyfriend Liam, 22.
She explained: “I thought they were just gna be super easy to use and Liam was trying to help me but cos I was panicking we ended up shouting at each other mid snorkelling.”
Millie went on to add she got her “s*** together” and the couple made up.
She explained that once she learned how to use the flippers she “enjoyed” the trip, which saw the reality stars “hold hands” while swimming with the fishes. She added: “We even saw a shark and dolphins.”
The couple, who were crowned winners of Love Island in 2021and picked up the £50,000 prize, confirmed earlier this week that they’d landed at their island holiday destination after a testing few days.
Millie and Liam jetted off to Dubai on 30 December 2022, but their first holiday away together was put on hold as the former bricklayer’s Covid-19 test came back as “presumptive positive”.
Three days later, the pair were released from isolation as his PCR test came back negative and the couple quickly headed out into the sand dunes on a desert excursion.
Millie shared several snaps of their time out in the desert as the pair wore keffiyehs – middle eastern headscarves – to protect them from the sun and sand.
Millie also covered her arms with a clingy green patterned dress, sliders, and a gummy bear necklace, while Welsh Liam opted for shorts, trainers and a bum bag.
Commenting on a photo showing him heading down a sand dune on a board, Liam said: “First attempt weren’t too bad. For anyone who’s done this, you’ll agree the walk back up is a killer.”
